Developer Updates (Peron Development and Boyle Construction):

The developer’s construction teams are continuing their site work. MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) rough-ins are almost complete on the 1st floor (that’s where the co-op will live!), while drywall and painting continues on the upper floors.

Store Design Updates (Simplified Business Solutions and Aurora Display):

The co-op’s project management team (Simplified Business Solutions) and the design teams have almost completed the next phase of store design. Our store designers (Seven Roots) have finalized the fixture plans and the interior décor team (Aurora Display) has begun selecting items such as millwork finishes, color palettes, styles, and more! We expect this phase of the design to be completed by mid-August.

Our project management is now starting to work on drafting RFPs (request for proposal) for equipment supplies, general contractor, and refrigeration installation.

Grant Updates:

The City of Bethlehem has received the primary grant agreement from HUD (Housing and Urban Development, the government agency administering the grant) and are currently reviewing with their legal team. Once that is complete, the City will draft the sub-award agreement between the co-op and the City. This will be the final step for accessing this funding package of $2.9 million!

Board Updates:

An exciting new initiative was announced, to bring local artists’ work into our new space. Board member Cindy Glick will chair the newly-formed Arts Committee, and she is working to create the team that will work in collaboration with our designers to bring this concept to fruition.  General Manager Eric Shamis will be working with the committee.

The first step was to visit the Banana Factory and meet local artists and see their work to get ideas.
